Sky & Ocean
Tropical sunrises and sunsets are truly spectacular at Etty Bay and it is worth making the effort to rise early and enjoy this time of the day. The weather is constantly changing and keeps the view interesting.
Gazing at the night sky is also worthwhile and on a clear night one can tell the time by the star movements as they make a daily rotation around the South Celestial Pole.
A rule of thumb for finding this pole is to imagine a line through the long axis of the Southern Cross and another line which bisects the two pointers. Where these two lines cross is near the South Celestial Pole.
Due south is approximately where a vertical line from the SCP meets the horizon.
